The Cross and Forgiveness – Bible Apps for Life
Who rules your life? Does God rule your life, or someone (or something) else? The application of what God gave us through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross provided us with the greatest gift of all – the gift of forgiveness.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all (Isaish 53: 5-6 NIV).
Your Christian life isn’t just what you believe or confess, it’s what you do. Once you get saved, you want to grow in your faith, not just stay in the safety of God’s grace, but grow into a higher level so that you can share that grace and love with others.
Turn to Your Maker
We need to surrender our pride, our ego, our wordly desires and our plans in order to live out the will of God. We need to freely love and forgive our neighbors and not deceive ourselves thinking that God’s forgiveness is only meant for us.
But sometimes we convince ourselves that our plans are better than God’s. We may be struggling in a situation, and instead of turning to God for help and answers, we look inward, as if the answers are inside of us instead of our Maker, the expert and master of our lives. It’d be like buying a new cell phone and asking the phone for instructions on how to use it, instead of asking a phone expert or sales person who actually knows the answers!
The truth is, the harder we try to convince ourselves that our way is the right way, the more we separate ourselves from God. He wants us to reach out to him, and He tells us so many times in his word. Here are two such examples:
Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise (1 Corithians 3:18 NIV).
There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death (Proverbs 14:12)
Wipe the Slate Clean
If today you are struggling, try using the forgiveness application that was won through the sacrifice of Jesus. Forgive yourself from past mistakes that have been holding you back, forgive those around you who have wronged you in any way, and ask Jesus to give you strength to truly let go and forgot those things. The past will never change, but forgiveness can set you free. Allow Christ to move you, to change who you are and align you with your purpose. Choose actions that are Christ-like, so that you are more than a believer, you are a light for the world.
