Standing Strong in Todays World

It’s pretty crazy out there, just listen to these news excerpt from today’s headlines…

From the Financial Times: Google and Nasa are throwing their weight behind a new school for futurists in Silicon Valley to prepare scientists for an era when machines become cleverer than people. *

From Reuters: Researchers who tried to use mouse, cow and rabbit eggs to make human clones said on Monday the effort failed to produce workable embryos but added that they showed human cloning should work in principle… Mixing human and animal cells does not appear to program the egg properly, said Dr. Robert Lanza of Massachusetts-based Advanced Cell Technology. **

From the Telegraph.co.uk: Chloe Leach, 21, had drank around four cans of the energy drink [Red Bull] and several VKs – a vodka based drink which also contains caffeine – when she suddenly fell to the floor … died at the scene despite efforts from staff and paramedics to revive her… A doctor told the inquest into her death on Monday that it may have been caused by the caffeine triggering a rare heart condition. ***

With all of this news out there, some of it could really shake your foundation. What do we do in order to combat this onslaught of uncertain and desperate times?

Two verses come to me when trying to answer this question.

Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them”…before the silver cord is loosed, Or the golden bowl is broken, Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain, Or the wheel broken at the well… And moreover, because the Preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yes, he pondered and sought out [and] set in order many proverbs. The Preacher sought to find acceptable words; and [what was] written [was] upright–words of truth. – Ecc 23.1, 6, 9 & 10

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. – Isa 40.28

It’s important to note, when the issues of life show up knocking at your door, we can trust in One who has (and knows) the answers to everything. Asking God and searching out the truth will strengthen the foundation that God first laid in us.
